In 1771, the Regulator Movement came to a violent end when farmers clashed with Governor William Tryon’s militia at what is now Alamance Battleground State Historic Site. Today, visitors can also see the Allen House on the grounds, a log dwelling typical of Piedmont farm life at the time.
