The North Carolina Museum of History proudly presents the annual African American Culture Celebration (AACC)! With support from its community partner, the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission, this signature event kicks off Black History Month by showcasing the rich history, achievements, and cultural contributions of African Americans in North Carolina. For 25 years, the celebration has been hosted by the museum, bringing together community members, organizations, authors, artists, musicians, filmmakers, scholars, and more to highlight the powerful influence of African American heritage on our state’s past and present.
The AACC consists of a virtual education day on Friday and an in-person festival on Saturday. Multiple demonstrations, presentations, and performances reach thousands of people each year, encouraging strong community ties and the celebration of African American culture.
NOTE: While the North Carolina Museum of History building is closed for renovation, this year's festival is being held at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Activities will take place in the East Building and on the Gipson Plaza. Parking is available in the three main museum parking lots.
