History is most definitely not a black and white subject! From costly indigo from the tropics to humble madder roots from the Mediterranean, explore the dyestuffs that helped fuel global economies and bring color to our lives.

This event is part of the museum’s Deep Dive Into History series, programs designed to give visitors a deeper understanding of our shared past through costumed interpretation. Each Deep Dive delves into a specific theme in Lower Cape Fear and maritime history. Programs run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and visitors can interact one-on-one with the presenter at any time during the program.
