NC State Parks is offering a free combination canoe paddle and cleanup at the Lower Haw River State Natural Area on Earth Day. Paddle the Haw in a tandem canoe while cleaning up trash in the river along the way. After a short introduction, the paddle trip will launch at Bynum Mill Access and take out about 3.4 miles downstream at the US 64 Haw River Canoe Access, with a shuttle ride back to Bynum Mill Access. Bring your own snacks/lunch and drinking water for a short lunch stop along the river. NC State Parks will provide the canoes, life jackets, and shuttle ride.  Estimated total time for event including introduction, lunch stop, paddling, and shuttle ride back is approximately 4 hours total.
