Join us on Juneteenth for a reenactment of the service held in St. Philips Moravian Church in May of 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was read aloud to a crowd of over 800 people, many of whom were enslaved. This event will include Chaplain Clark's reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, passages from the bible selected by him, hymns and songs included in the original program, and a pop up exhibit of the history of African Americans in Salem from the Moravian Archives. 

This is a FREE event and all are welcome to attend.

Doors open at 6 and the service will begin at 7. We recommend arriving before the service begins as seating is limited.
