Join us for our special event on January 17th, 2026 commemorating the 161st anniversary of Fort Fisher’s capture! General admission is FREE, no tickets required for entry. Doors open at 9:00am and close at 5:00pm.

Public programs will be held between 10:00am and 4:00pm. View these programs below, many of which will be performed by costumed reenactors (participation by invitation only):

• Living History and Community Group Displays: Connect with our community and explore details of daily life during the Civil War!
• Artillery Demonstrations: Witness military drill and feel the heat of a battery of 3 cannons!*
• Above the Scenes Guided Tours: Learn the history of Fort Fisher's land and people!**
• Artifact Highlights: Take a special look at some of our recent acquisitions of fascinating historical objects!
• Fun Activities: Bring the family for hands-on activities that teach you about cool aspects of our nation’s past!

*Demonstrations to be held at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm. Demonstration area to be marked on site map available at the visitor center's information desks during the event.

**Above the Scenes Tours to be offered at 10:00am, 12:00pm, and 2:00pm. Tickets cost $10 + tax per person, purchased at the first-floor information desk in the visitor center.

Please consider carpooling with friends and family wherever possible! Limited extra parking is available at Battle Acre Road. The gate to the main parking lot is to be locked at 5:00pm.
