About this Event
Lake Bathhouse
#birdingFly on over to Hanging Rock State Park for a unique adventure! We’ll start and end at the Lake Parking Area for a 2.6-mile leisurely hike, exploring portions of the Wolf Rock Trail, Chestnut Oak Nature Trail, and Lake Trail. Along the way, we’ll take part in a fun citizen-science project that helps collect data for the Great Backyard Bird Count.
This experience is open to all ages and birding skill levels—whether you’re a seasoned birder or just curious! Hanging Rock is home to a variety of species, from woodland birds to those that swim in the lake. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather. A limited supply of binoculars and field guides will be available, but feel free to bring your own.
Join us for a relaxing hike, beautiful views, and a chance to contribute to a nationwide birding effort! Registration is required, please email Ranger Jonathan at jonathan.buie@ncparks.gov.
