DESCRIPTION:The Museum of the Albemarle will host our monthly History for L
 unch on Wednesday\, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. in the Gaither Auditorium. The Museu
 m of the Albemarle\, a part of the Division of State History Museums\, Offi
 ce of Archives and History\, is an agency of the North Carolina Department 
 of Natural and Cultural Resources.\n\n \n\nThe 1898 Wilmington Massacre is 
 one of the most infamous events in North Carolina history. Many are not awa
 re\, though\, that other cities in the eastern half of the Tar Heel State h
 ad similar tensions\, and one of these was Elizabeth City. Glen Bowman\, Ph
 D\, of Elizabeth City State University\, will explore the historical docume
 nts of the time in addressing whether something like the Wilmington Massacr
 e could have happened in Elizabeth City.\n\n \n\nThe Museum will offer the 
 History for Lunch program in-person and through Zoom. To attend the lecture
  virtually\, register in advance to receive the meeting link. Registration 
 is not required to attend the lecture in person.\n\n \n\nThe virtual progra
 m is supported by Friends of the Museum of the Albemarle.
