DESCRIPTION:Join teaching artist Kimberley Pierce Cartwright for a hand sew
 ing art quilt workshop\, inspired by the African American history\, landsc
 apes\, and textures of Historic Stagville. \n\nIn this class you will lear
 n how to use your fabric stash to put together a complete art project in a
  few hours start to finish. We’ll brainstorm designs to create together\
 , make our own patterns and hand-sew art quilt projects. We’ll talk abou
 t composition and color\; visit the landscape and artifacts of Stagville\;
  and each student will design an 8 x 10 art quilt that can be framed.\n\nT
 his is a 2.5 hour class.\n\nAttendees are expected to make a suggested don
 ation of at least $10 to the Historic Stagville Foundation. Your donations
  support all of Stagville's events and programs!\n\nRegistration required

 . Space is limited for this workshop. \n\nAbout the artist: Kimberley Pier
 ce Cartwright was born in Hallsboro\, NC. She began quilting and painting 
 in the summer of 2006. Her work evokes emotion through her distinctive use
  of color. She specializes in small quilt fabric post cards. She’s a mem
 ber of the African American Quilt Circle of Durham and has taught classes 
 in quilting and sewing.  Kimberley holds a bachelor of arts degree from Sh
 aw University in Radio Television and Film. She also earned a master’s d
 egree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois at Sprin
