DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Juneteenth\, Historic Stagville offers specia
 l Juneteenth tours on Friday\, June 19.\n\nDiscover the history of emancip
 ation on one of North Carolina’s largest plantations. Hear stories of ho
 w formerly enslaved families celebrated\, defended themselves\, and search
 ed for family\, while the plantation owners strategized to hold on to thei
 r power and wealth. Stories of love\, loss\, labor\, and family illuminate
  the complex history of freedom in the 1860s.  \n\nOn Juneteenth\, guided 
 tours will begin every half-hour\, starting at 9 am. The last tour of the 
 day will depart at 2:30 pm. Tours are first-come\, first-served. Check in 
 at the visitors center front desk to register for a tour. \n\nAll guided t
 ours are free on Juneteenth\, thanks to the support of the Historic Stagvi
 lle Foundation. \n\nJuneteenth tours last about 60 minutes\, with outdoor 
 and indoor stops. The tour includes walking outdoors on uneven surfaces\, 
 stops inside historic buildings\,  and one 3/4 mile drive in your own vehi
 cle. Please check in at the site visitors center to join a tour!
