On March 26^th at 12pm, the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), along with the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and St. John’s No. 3, Masonic Lodge (Chartered 1772 will be dedicating a “Liberty Tree” at 51 Shoreline Dr, in River Bend, NC.  The Liberty Tree is part of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) Liberty Tree Project that aims to plant 250 Liberty Trees nationwide by July 4, 2026, honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S.  This initiative, launched in 2023, commemorates the original Boston tree, a symbol of colonial resistance, by placing trees and educational plagues in communities to honor Revolutionary Patriots.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this event.

The New Bern SAR Chapter Color Guard is planning to perform a "live fire" musket volley as part of the ceremony.
