William B. Umstead State Park will be hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service cleanup program in the park's trails, roadsides, and bodies of water. Folks can swing by the Visitor Center and grab trash bags and trash grabbers anytime between Noon and 3:00pm and clean up trash at Big Lake, Sycamore Lake, and Sycamore Creek before returning the trash grabbers back to the Visitor Center by 5pm. Knowledgeable park staff will be present in the Visitor Center to tell folks where to go and ultimately what to do with any trash they do accumulate. We will have roughly 30 trash grabbers available, so any more than that will need to pick up trash by hand. Any questions can be fielded to Ranger Nick.
