About this Event
109 West Moore Street Southport, NC 28461
Come out to Harper Library while we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in a 3-part series.
Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, which created the United States. To celebrate the Declaration's upcoming 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, Monticello, the Jefferson house, is launching Declaration Book Club, featuring short readings, lively videos, and probing questions to spark discussion of our past, present, and future as one people, created equal. This series explores what Jefferson and his cosigners declared in 1776--and how do you pursue life, liberty, and happiness today.
At each meeting we will watch videos, discuss reading material and discuss a list of predetermined guided questions pertaining to each sessions materials.
Each participant who signs up will receive a separate email for each session that includes the optional reading materials, suggested supplemental reading materials, and the guided questions we will go over for each meeting.
