2026 NC 4th of July Festival: Celebrating 250 Years of Independence
June 28 – July 4, 2026 | Southport, North Carolina

Join us in historic Southport for one of North Carolina’s most beloved traditions, the NC 4th of July Festival. In 2026, the celebration takes on even greater meaning as we honor the 250th anniversary of American independence, part of the nationwide America250 Semiquincentennial.

For over two centuries, communities across North Carolina have gathered to mark our nation’s birthday. This year, from June 28 through July 4, the NC 4th of July Festival will bring together visitors for a week of parades, concerts, arts and crafts, family activities, and patriotic ceremonies, all infused with the spirit of America’s 250th birthday.

Festival Highlights

  • Grand Parade featuring floats, marching bands, and community groups decked out in patriotic spirit

  • Live Music & Entertainment on multiple stages, showcasing diverse voices and talents from across the region

  • Fireworks Over the Water — a breathtaking tradition made even more meaningful in this Semiquincentennial year

  • Arts, Crafts & Food Vendors with local flavors and handmade treasures

  • Family Activities, including games, educational exhibits, and history-themed programming inspired by America250

  • Commemorative Programs highlighting North Carolina’s role in the American story, from 1776 to today

America250 Connection

As part of the America250 NC initiative, this year’s festival will not only celebrate our nation’s founding ideals — liberty, democracy, and unity — but also spotlight the diverse stories that make up our shared history. Through special exhibits, performances, and community programs, festival-goers will be invited to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and imagine the next 250 years together.

Why 2026 is Special

This year’s festival isn’t just a tradition; it’s part of a once-in-a-generation national celebration. By joining us in Southport, you’ll be part of history, experiencing one of the largest and most vibrant Independence Day events in North Carolina during America’s Semiquincentennial.
