NC’s Route to Victory in the Revolution: The Race to the Dan
August 7–8, 2026

Join us for a two-day commemoration exploring North Carolina’s critical role in the Revolutionary War during the Winter Campaign of 1781. Through keynote presentations, living history, reenactments, and historical interpretation, this event will highlight the events and people connected to “The Race to the Dan,” a pivotal campaign that helped lead to the British surrender at Yorktown later that year.

Friday, August 7, 2026
Bethania, North Carolina

The opening day will feature a historical program and keynote address in the historic Moravian community of Bethania, followed by a reception at the Cornwallis House (c. 1770).

Saturday, August 8, 2026
Shallow Ford State Historic Site – Lewisville, North Carolina

The second day will include reenactments, living history demonstrations, a keynote address, and luncheon programming at the historic crossing site of Shallow Ford.
