2025 Preservation Party & Annual Awards

6:00 PM | Tuesday, November 18, 2025
ReCity Network, 112 Broadway St

Each year, Preservation Durham honors individuals and organizations who make exceptional contributions to preserving Durham’s historic places and stories.

We’re especially proud to share that the Museum of Durham History and Friends of Geer Cemetery have been selected  as recipients of one of the 2025 Preservation Awards of Merit for our collaborative exhibit, Unearthing Stories of Geer Cemetery: Using Archaeology to Reclaim, Restore, and Respect Sacred Space.

This project — including a six-month exhibit at the Museum as well as related activities, talks, and a cemetery tour — demonstrated the power of research, archaeology, preservation, and education in protecting one of Durham’s oldest Black cemeteries.

Come celebrate with us at the Preservation Party! Enjoy light refreshments, good company, and inspiring stories of those who help keep Durham’s history alive.

The Preservation Durham Awards honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to preservation and public history throughout Durham County. These accolades acknowledge those who have put considerable effort into safeguarding Durham’s architectural heritage, as well as those who have creatively and thoughtfully interacted with, transformed, and shared the county's vibrant past. The awards aim to expand our preservation community by celebrating the diverse manifestations of preservation across Durham County.

Join us for the annual Preservation Party as we honor this year's award winners on November 18th at ReCity Network (112 Broadway St)! This event is FREE, with a suggested contribution of $30 per ticket.
