About this Event
160 Bynum Church Rd, Pittsboro, NC 27312
Friends of Lower Haw is partnering with NC State Parks to offer this free event. Learn some history of Bynum Mill at the Haw River, then float ¾ mile down the river in tubes. We will put-in at Bynum Mill Access parking area and float downstream to the take-out at Pokeberry Creek. This event involves walking back to the put-in location at Bynum Mill Access, about a ¾ mile walk through the woods on uneven terrain. Tubes and life jackets will be provided. All participants are required to wear a life jacket while tubing. Come dressed to get wet. Wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet that will also be suitable for walking back to the put-in location. Bring a water bottle and towel. Participants should be comfortable in the water and be able to swim if needed. Our guide will be Sean Higgins, Interpretation & Education Manager with NC State Parks.
Space is limited to 14 people. Pre-registration is required. Sign up in advance at this link or at www.lowerhaw.org/events.
If you have a younger participant who would like to come, please email our guide Sean Higgins at sean.higgins@ncparks.gov to discuss the float plan in more detail. For other questions, please contact lowerhawevents@gmail.com.
