Join Dr. Hugh Dussek, Professor of History at Central Piedmont Community College, as he leads a discussion on the history of this holiday, and its prominence in colonial Carolina.

Originally from London, England, Hugh Dussek has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, for over thirty years. Hugh holds an undergraduate degree from The University of the State of New York; a master’s degree in the Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills; and a doctoral degree in History from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hugh is a history professor, and chair of the history and geography departments, at Central Piedmont in Charlotte. Hugh teaches courses on American history, world civilizations, North Carolina history, local history and mythology. Hugh serves on the boards of Historic Rosedale and the Historic Mapping Congress, gives tours at the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite, and makes presentations in the community about American, British and local history.
